Cast Iron Italianate Handrail Systems for Victorian Homes are a unique part of America's heritage of ironwork.

Architectural Iron Company is the oldest manufacturer of Italianate Cast Iron Components in the United States. We sand cast in cast iron the widest selection of Italianate Balusters available anywhere. We can work with you, your architetct and/or ironworker to plan your unique Italianate stoop and/or sidewalk railings.

Italianate handrails are made up of four basic components. They are:

    1. Balusters - the elegant vertical posts which support the handrails
    2. Handrails (and subrails) - the handsome broad and understated sturdy handrails
    3. Newel Posts - the large posts at the bottom of a stair railing
    4. and Gates (depending on requirements)

Please note that all our systems share the same two part handrail and subrail profiles so all you need to do is choose which style baluster you want, and if you also want two or more newel posts, you need to choose a style there also.
