We understand that the elegant stoop in this photograph (patterns & castings by Architectural Iron Company, Inc.) is actually the third stoop on this elegant townhouse stoop castings and handrails, dating from the 1850's, had deteriorated very badly in the early 1980's. When faced with a quote from Architectural Iron Company, Inc. which was more than they wanted to spend, the owners had the entire stoop replaced in fiberglass. When that deteriorated, in 2003, they chose to have Architectural Iron Company, Inc. do it the right way, in the original cast iron, yielding the completed stoop you see here.
